Valuable Information from IBM Tech Support

IBM Informix Support Technotes

I just discovered some interesting URL compositions on the IBM Informix Tech Support website. Those compositions are in the form of a tech support article which is focussed on a certain area of IDS like Installation, Migration or Performance Tuning.

IBM Informix Tech Support is well known to be one of the best and most knowledgeable support organizations in the IT industry. If you ever have worked with the support organizations of other players in the database market, I'm sure, you already discovered the difference. A strong and efficient database support organization is an absolute must for companies whose businesses depend on the continuous availability of their data servers.

Join the Revolution !

Join the Revolution !

The Informix Zone is meant to be a community website. Beside viewing information and stories, you can also submit your own stories in form of a personal blog.

I invite you to be an active part of the Informix Zone Community. If you have to say something (positive) about Informix technology, don't hesitate, register yourself and take part in the Informix Zone Community.

Like most of us my time is limited and I will probably not be able to produce enough content by myself. Together we might be able to spread the word about our favorite data server and move Informix forward.

The Idea

The idea behind "The Informix Zone" is to further promote Informix by keeping people informed about the progress that Informix makes and giving newcomers an understanding of the outstanding technology of IDS (Informix Dynamic Server).

I've been involved with Informix technology since 1989 until today and believe me I do not regret any single day of my "Informix Life" because I'm still convinced that Informix has the best technology in the database server market.

Most of us know that the combination Informix/Marketing has almost always been a fiasco in the past. The takeover of Informix by IBM in 2001 didn't change this weak point until 2007. In 2007 there has been a lot more activity coming from IBM regarding Informix. However there is still room for more. We should concentrate on the future and move Informix forward. IBM has recognized the potential of the IDS technology and I'm sure that we will see further improvements in terms of marketing from the vendor.
