New content has arrived at the IDS Developer Edition Wiki:

Making your online.log more readable with IDS 11.5

Making your online.log more readable with IDS 11.5

IDS 11.5 comes with a helpful new onconfig parameter which I didn't realize during the closed beta. It is also not mentioned in the New Features section in the releasenotes.

The name of the onconfig paramter is MSG_DATE and the allowed values are 0 (disabled, DEFAULT) and 1 (enabled). It could be dynamically set thru onmode -w[f|m]. If MSG_DATE is enabled, every message written to the online.log will be prefixed with the current date. Take a look at the following examples:

A whole bunch of new Informix articles

A whole bunch of new INFORMIX articles

During the last 3-4 weeks a whole bunch of interesting new articles about INFORMIX technology has been published on IBM developerWorks.

First of all I like to promote the article about IDS/Linux/Xen written by my friend Martin Fuerderer (IBM IDS development group Munich/Germany) and Nicole Neubuerger (student at the University of Applied Sciences Munich). The article provides a great overview about IDS running on Linux in a Xen virtual machine:

The following two blogs contain interesting and useful technical information regarding IDS:

I also added them to the community section of the Informix URL Compilation.
Have fun.

The Informix Blogsphere expands further

A new Informix blog is born:

Jacques Roy: Informix and Computing

Jacques Roy is an acknowledged Informix Expert for many many years. He wrote several books, articles and whitepapers about IDS. I had the pleasure to attend his presentation - Using the IBM Common API for IDS Web Applications - at IIUG 2008. He is a great presenter and I'm looking forward to his upcoming blog entries. Good to see that the Informix Blogosphere is further expanding.
